Summary:
Ag/Commercial Marketing Underwriter plays a crucial role in underwriting, decision-making, and communication with potential insured and sales. This position involves inspecting, analyzing, and evaluating agricultural and/or commercial properties to determine risk and insurability. The role requires a deep understanding of the agricultural and/or commercial industries and the ability to assist agents and potential customers in ensuring accurate coverage of insured risks. This position involves both fieldwork and reviews within an assigned area/district.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct pre-inspections to review and underwrite risks before policies are bound.
- Perform post-inspections for newly written properties and renewal inspections to ensure material risks have not changed.
- Accompany agents on insured appointments to assist in evaluating and identifying exposures.
- Attend closings to assist in providing answers to questions, provide detailed context, and be a subject matter expert as it relates to our Ag Promise policy and Commercial Package policy.
- Document details regarding autos, structures, personal property, farm personal property, farm equipment, inland marine exposures and liability exposures etc.
- Analyze and evaluate property for value, condition, and exposure purposes.
- Coordinate, lead, and monitor the Audit, Reinspection, and Re-underwriting Programs.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of policies, applications, forms, and endorsements.
- Train underwriters and the agency force on policies, endorsements etc as it relates to Ag Promise and/or commercial policies.
- Provide assistance in obtaining coverage for high-risk exposures within the brokerage market if needed.
- Research lines of business to identify loss predictive characteristics and monitor competitive products, programs, and pricing.
- Depict findings in photography and complete reports from inspections.
- Perform thorough and accurate reviews when appropriate.
- Assist agents with entering Ag Promise and Commercial policies into the system and recommending coverages/endorsements for potential and existing customers.
- Attend various meetings, conferences, and training seminars.
- Visit assigned county offices/agencies as required.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree Preferred – Majoring in Business, Agriculture, Insurance, or Risk Management. Relevant combination of education and related business/insurance work experience may be substituted for degree.
- CPCU or CIC License required
- Property and Casualty Insurance License preferred. Must obtain within six months of start date.
Skills:
- Demonstrated analytical skills Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable record.
- Ability to drive and travel daily, including overnight stays.

Other Details:
- Travel is required – overnight stays expected

Salary Range:
$84,400 – $157,740
