  • Dwelling

Dwelling Protection protects the dwelling (building) on the residence premises used as your private residence.

  • Protection for Other Structures

You might have other buildings on your property that are separate or detached from your primary residence. This coverage provides protection for other structures on the residence premises set apart from the dwelling by clear space. Your agent can review the specifics of the policy and coverage limits.

  • Personal Property Protection

Your home is more than just brick and mortar. Your personal property — like furniture, artwork, and other possessions — is also important to you. The items inside your home are covered under your homeowners policy under Personal Property coverage. Be sure to discuss your policy limits with your agent to determine if you may need to raise the limits for your personal property.

  • Personal Liability

If someone is injured or their property is damaged while they are at your house, Personal Liability coverage helps protect you and your family against a claim or lawsuit.

  • Medical Payments to Others

Medical Payments to Others coverage pays reasonable and necessary medical expenses to anyone who is injured while at your home and who does not live with you.

  • Loss of Use

If your home is damaged by a covered loss and deemed unlivable, you’ll need to find another place to live while your home is repaired. Loss of Use covers additional living expenses (up to the limits of your specific policy) if your home becomes uninhabitable due to a covered loss.

Additional Optional Coverages

Frequently Asked Questions

I have a homeowners policy. Is my home covered for damages caused by high winds or tornadoes?

Most homeowners policies cover damages to the dwellings caused by tornadoes or other wind damage. Our homeowners policy covers your dwelling and personal items inside the home. The homeowners policy also covers storage and other outside structures on the insured premises including personal items inside the building. Be sure to speak with your Farm Bureau agent to know what your specific policy covers.

Will the damages caused to my home by flood or rising water be covered under my homeowners policy?

Most homeowners and dwelling fire policies with extended coverage will not cover flood damages or claims resulting from rising water. Generally, you would need a flood insurance policy from the National Flood Insurance Program to have protection for this type of loss. Be sure to speak with your Farm Bureau agent about how you can purchase a flood policy.

If I do not have a mortgage on my home, why do I need homeowners insurance?

Homeowners insurance provides financial protection against disasters. A standard policy insures the home itself and the things you keep in it. So, even if you don’t owe money on your home, if you suffer loss, you will still be able to recoup the value of your home (as covered in your policy) and be able to repair or rebuild your home as needed. Homeowners insurance is a package policy. This means that it covers both damage to your property and your liability or legal responsibility for any injuries and property damage you or members of your family cause to other people.
