Colorado Summer Festivals are Back

What COVID-19 Canceled Events are Back in 2021

For Coloradans who waited out the long summer of 2020 devoid of those familiar festivals they so enjoyed: hope is in sight. A studied glance at the state’s calendar of such gatherings (both indoors and al fresco) reveals what promises to be a busy summer. 

To help celebrate a long-awaited return to normalcy, we’re featuring a few of the many festivals (in chronological order) that will be making a comeback this year.

MeadowGrass Music Festival

In its 12th annual celebration, the MeadowGrass Music Festival is staying true to its original mission: to bring world-class emerging talent to perform in the Pikes Peak region, alongside local and regional performers, in a family-friendly environment. As “the Pikes Peak Region’s premier music festival,” MeadowGrass also offers on-site camping with spots for RVs, stunning views of Pikes Peak, a beer festival, teen and kid activities, local vendors, and more!

Country Jam

In what has become the largest country music and camping festival in the state, Country Jam returns to Mack (near Loma), Colorado, this summer. This year’s big-name lineup of artists includes Luke Combs, Toby Keith, Carrie Underwood, Kip Moore, HARDY, Ashley McBryde, Tanya Tucker, and many more.

Boulder Creek Festival

Enjoy activities for all ages at this annual community event. Visitors will find kids’ activities, games, rides and even yoga classes, and everyone can get in on the music concerts, performances, and the Makers Market, featuring works by local artists and craftsmen, who will be selling jewelry, clothing, home goods, pet products and more. A Beer Fest for visitors 21 and up celebrates local breweries with several taste sessions. And don’t miss the food trucks!

Gold Rush Days

Gold Rush Days is an annual celebration of Buena Vista’s heritage. Festivities include live music, an art and craft fair with more than 100 vendors, bungee jumps, circus and dance shows, kids’ games, a beer garden, historical reenactments, the Burro Race Triple Crown, and toilet seat races!

Moffat County Hot Air Balloon Festival 

Visitors may enjoy a wide array of events, including hot air balloon launches, a burrito breakfast, a Colorado Cruiser’s Classic Car Show, craft and food vendors, a duck race, beer garden, live music, and more!

Affordable Arts Festival

Ranked as one of the top 25 arts festivals in the country (among 600) this fast-growing event happens one day each year, hosting more than 160 artists. All art sold at this event is priced at $100 or less, and lucky shoppers may find pieces valued at several thousands of dollars. Art pieces for sale include paintings, glass, clay, sculpture, metalware, photography, mixed media, fiber and wood.

Denver Arts Festival 

Tagged as “one of the top shows in the nation,” this fine arts and crafts festival draws 50,000 or more attendees each year. Recognizing its 22nd anniversary this year, it remains dedicated to showcasing some of the state’s and the nation’s best artists.
